I was commissioned by Hook Norton Brewery to make a range of products for them and it got me starting to think about men, movember , scent memory and the scent of unwashed rugby players…
I have made a Shaving Soap in a rosewood bowl that tingles with Sandalwood,Patchouli, Cedarwood, Frankincence, Bourbon Rose Geranium, Clay, Glycerine, Vitamin E and enriched with Olive oil, Castor oil, Coconut oil and Shea butter.
The Shaving soap is designed to offer a richly bubbled foam for ease and enjoyment of use and leaves you smelling absolutely manly.
The Shaving Soap was tested by members of Stratford-upon-Avon Rugby team at the end of movember, and they approve.
The Badger Hair Shaving Brushes are made by Frank Shave and are ‘soft’ to use. If you wanted a brush with more exfoliating properties, then I sell a Boars Hair Brush made by Barber Blades.
I realised that shaving is not just cutting hair, it is a time honored ritual to be savored and enjoyed.
It is all about taking part in a ritual that every great man took part in throughout history. It cannot be rushed, nor can it be pressured into speedy beard removal – it is beard reduction with gentle, angled sweeps using the weight of the razor to shave with the grain and not a dig onto the hairs that ultimately cuts the face.
Prepping the whiskers with heat before shaving makes all the difference to the quality of shave, as soft whiskers makes shaving easier and causes less irritation to the skin. Shaving after your shower is best, or if you prefer use a hot towel to open your pores and soften facial hair instead.
Wet shaving reduces environmental impact as you do not constantly buy aerosols and throw away razors, reduces the cost of shaving as the Shaving Soaps in the rosewood bowl are long lasting and replacement pucks can be ordered; but use wet shaving because you get a consistently closer shave.
I suggest you finish with our Manmix 3 Aftershave balm with scents of Lavender, Bergamot, Palmarosa, Rosewood,Clary Sage and Eucalyptus.
If you have fallen into scent heaven with our Shaving soap then I have made an Aftershaving balm to compliment the scents made with Sandalwood,Patchouli, Cedarwood, Frankincence and Bourbon Rose Geranium.
The Bowls cost £18.50 and the Badger Hair Shaving Brushes are £20.00. The Boars Hair Brushes are £7.50. Aftershave balm £20.00
