This is our sumptuous bayleaf, olive oil and lemon oil soap. It has a gentle, slightly spicy scent and is the palest of green in colour. The lemon oil and lemon tea tree oil just adds depth to this beautiful soap.
Savon d’Alep was the first hard soap in the world, dating back thousands of years from Aleppo in Syria and was made with bayleaf and olive oil. In the Mediterranean bayleaf has been used for generations and its pedigree as a skin nourishing soap is well established – it was inspiration for our bayleaf soap.
Bayleaf is soothing and mildly antiseptic. It is great for healing sprains, cuts and bruises and soothing insect bites and stings. It is anti-fungal and anti-bacterial as well as being useful for the treatment of dandruff.
Lemon is also powerfully astringent, anti-septic and great for oily skin. Our Lemon Tea Tree essential oil is steam distilled from a relative of the more common ‘Tea Tree’ – both being of the Myrtaceae family. It is traditionally used for its antiseptic, carminative and sedative properties. It is also used as an insect repellent – body lice, mosquitoes and other flying creatures….
